Fun in the tub...

So these are our little water bugs! Whether pools, rivers, lakes, or tubs, Mia and Allison love swimming and splashing. They've even progressed to pouring water over their own heads. It's hard to believe because rinsing shampoo used to be a bit of a battle!

I have to ask... Do these look like the scrawniest two year olds you've ever seen? At their two year well child visit, they weighed in at the 1st and second percentile. We keep trying our best to provide a high calorie diet for them so they can catch up, but so far I seem to be the only one 'benefiting' from the effort. I've been told I should relax about it because the girls are following a normal growth curve. However, the angst I feel worrying that they're behind in any way is a monkey I can't seem to shake!

One silly Tuesday...

The morning started out with two little monkeys jumping on the bed. Even Daddy got in on the fun! "Ready? Set?"

After the jumping party, the girls decided to experiment with some new wardrobe choices. Mia was a fan of the sun glasses. Allison brought over some treasures she found in the closet and, despite warmer temperatures, said, "Boots! On!"

Once the novelty of the boots and glasses wore off, the girls settled in for some quality reading.

Later in the day, the girls had their first driving lesson in their new car. (Thanks Dianne!) Both girls seem to think driving is a 'hair raising' experience.

To be honest, watching the two of them fighting over the one car was the scariest thing of the whole day!!! How long does it take before the sharing discussions start yielding results?!?!?

Two TWO year olds!!!

From Glacier we went directly to Ely for the annual Blueberry Festival and to celebrate Mia and Allison's second birthday. The girls had a blast playing with their second cousins, Max and Abby! They rang in the new year with Curious George cupcakes and lots of birthday wishes from their extended family.

This is a picture of their new 'toot' that Grandpa Day and Monica found for them at the art festival. Mia and Allison thank everyone for their fun new things and for thinking of them on their birthday!

On their birthday and everyday I still think of the NICU staff that gave Shawn and I the best gift of all, two healthy little girls!!!

Glacier then and now...

2008
2009

We tried as hard as we could to recreate the pictures we took last year. The girls were so excited to be by the water though, they kept running off. The closest we could get was by sitting them up on top of the stump so they couldn't get away so fast! I'm amazed to see how much more hair they have now than they did a year ago!!!

Glacier day trips...

Option 1: Revisiting the scene of our wedding at the Glacier Park Lodge and then a little quality time with rocks and water at Running Eagle Falls.

Option 2: Hiking to the overlook at Logan's Pass. Introducing the girls to big horn sheep, hoary marmots, and mountain goats!

Option 3: North to Waterton, Canada where dear roam the town like stray dogs. More water and rock time with the Prince of Wales Hotel in the background and a little swim time for Shawn and I in Waterton Lake!

Just a typical day at the park...

First, breakfast! I get a little nostalgic looking at this year's Cheerio pictures. Last summer the girls were getting maybe 1 out of 10 cheerios into their mouths using just their fingers. Now they throw down a whole bowl with milk and a spoon!

Then, off to the lake! Here's 'Daddy' with his little ducks in a row.

"Bye-bye, waddow" After hours of splashing around lakeside, we headed back to the camper...
...for a little r & r, and if we were really lucky, maybe even a nap!

'Waddow' and 'Wocks!!!

There are MANY more pictures we could put in this section. Most of our time was spent near the water. Shawn and I, in wetsuits, would swim and the girls would scoop and pour both water and rocks for hours! Every time we go close to the lake or any other body of water the girls would shout out 'waddow' or 'wah wah'. By the end of the trip they, and Alli in particular, were saying waterfall, water slide, mountain, and much much more!
