Up to their elbows...
The girls were so excited about seeing boats, birdies and ducks that the screen door to the outside could hardly contain them. We love that Mia and Allison share our enthusiam for the outdoors. In fact, we're hoping the promise of being outside will help them make it through a 22 hour car ride back to Glacier this summer! Though hard to see, Mia is chasing a duck in the top picture. They watched birdies come and go from the feeders and Alli announced each time a boat went by. Not feeling close enough to nature, they played around in the bird bath for a while too. (Shawn was a little disgusted because he saw a fat squirrel bathing himself in the same bath that the girls were practically drinking out of just moments later...)Memorial Day on the water...
We spent Memorial Day weekend at Grandma and Grandpa Affeldt's cabin. The first order of business, after a yummy birthday breakfast for Grandpa and a nap, of course, was a boat ride! The girls are such climbers now that we were relieved we didn't lose either one of them in the drink! Instead, they looked over the edge, planted kisses on grandma and, in the spirit of lake adventure, noshed on goldfish.

Mother's Day at the park!
We were so happy to have Grandma Affeldt here with us for Mother's Day weekend! Mia and Allison loved showing off their fearless nature at the park and listening to or even reading (in some language) their favorite books with Grandma. I love being their mommy and it is so fun seeing them snuggle up to my mommy! It was a perfect weekend.

To the greenhouse!

The end of 8th Ave as we know it...

It is officially road construction season in Minnesota. Work began last week on our street and we've been told it will continue well into August. So, of course, just when the girls discovered a love for cruising the sidewalk, it will be torn up to make way for new water pipes and a shiny new road. We have mixed feelings about the project. We've enjoyed little traffic on our road due to the horrible condition of it. Few would brave it on rollerblades- the couple of times I tried ended in band-aids. The new road will make for smoother skating, but faster traffic. None-the-less, the process will surely provide hours of entertainment for Mia and Alli!

Spring has sprung, so what's better than spending Sunday morning at the greenhouse? (Especially considering that our own yard most resembles a pile of black dirt. -Thanks, Rudy...)

Logically, Alli was afraid of this mossy llama but both girls loved the ceramic frogs out front. I tried to capture one of the many times they bent down to kiss them, but dropped the camera instead.
