Nothing better than snow and daddy!

A pensive Mia was pretty captivated by one of the first snow falls. She was just gazing out the front window! If she's anything like her parents, she's probably counting the days before she can hit the slopes or trails on skis!
A little Daddy time by the Christmas tree...

Tipping the scales!

Finally, a chance to update!

Here are the girls laying on their 'tummy time' blanket after a big workout! They're pretty strong little girls already!
Mia had the same reaction to exercise that her mommy sometimes does...
Alli still has some fussy times too...

Sorry it has taken so long to get a chance to update the blog. I have had to use any free time I've gotten to either shower, eat, sleep, or write thank you notes. (Thank you notes are still in progress, until you receive yours, please know how much Shawn and I appreciate all the fun and cute things you've shared with us!!!) As I wrote in my last entry, I was feeling pretty overwhelmed by the whole experience of motherhood. I'm pleased now to report, that after one solo flight to the doctor with both girls, I feel like I might be more capable than I had first thought. Allison had an appointment the first Friday after she had gotten home. Shawn was of course working so I had to get the girls up, fed, and dressed, make sure I was also dressed, then I loaded the girls into their car seats and out the door. We we're right on time for the appointment, which is something I struggled to do myself before I had kids! I felt so triumphant and appreciated all of the "Wow, you have twins! That must be hard work." looks I got as I toted around both car seats, a diaper bag, and Alli's apnea monitor. Quite a sight...

Allison has been to the doctor several times since then for weight checks. She hadn't been gaining weight so we tried lots of different things to inspire eating- removing the feeding tube, replacing the feeding tube, meeting with a speech therapist... Last Saturday Alli removed her feeding tube herself so we decided we'd just roll with it and see how she did. For the most part she has been keeping up her end of the bargain, but I'll be glad to see Jenny, the Home Care nurse for another weight check!

The girls are now just over 4 months old, though we think of them more as 2 1/2 week olds with lots of experience. They are both hovering around the 8 lb mark and really feel like quite an armful!

Speaking of arms full... Some of you have offered to help out. If the offer still stands, I would love extra hands to help, especially during weekdays while Shawn is at work. The girls are allowed to have healthy, adult visitors, but are supposed to avoid people who are sick or potentially germy, including all children under the age of 13. (I just hate this because my niece and nephew and Shawn's cousins kids would love to snuggle the girls! Not to mention, the whole can't be by kids policy leaves us pretty isolated.) Some of you have also offered to bring a meal over. That would be helpful too, as one of the many public places we can't go to with the girls is the grocery store... If you would like to come help with holding or feeding, even if it's only for a little while, just give us a call. I'm finding this twin thing is bigger than a one person job!
