We're starting to hear Mia and Allison's little talking voices, just when we were starting to fear they would only ever communicate by crying! Over the weekend Grandpa Ken was getting responses to his requests that they say 'hi' and this Thursday with Nana Linda, it seems Allison has been working on her 'hello'! Shawn and I have each been doing our part to try to get them to say 'dada' or 'mama' respectively. It'll be interesting to see which word will emerge first. In all likelihood, it will probably be "Rudy"!
Allison It has been a very full Valentine's Day for the girls and mommy! It started out with Nana Linda (Rehkamp) coming over a little early so I could deliver Valentines and treats to my homeroom students. I hadn't gotten to see all of them since I left in November, so it was fun to catch up. When I got back home I found that Allison was playing the wakeful party girl, entertaining her nana, while Mia was the reluctant celebrator, sleeping until 11:oo!!! After lunch, we packed up the girls for a Valentine mission- a surprise visit to Grandpa Ken at work (New Flyer)! It was fun getting to see where he works and I think he enjoyed showing off his little valentines! Once we got back home we had a little lovebug photoshoot. Then Mia and Allison "helped" me make daddy's favorite dinner, red chili, and a pink strawberry cake for dessert! We hope he is surprised when he gets home! The girls had fun getting their first valentines from Grandma and Grandpa Affeldt, Bryn and Henry, and their nana Diane (Gurda)! I get excited thining about making valentines with them to hand out when they get older!
